I've been planning and directing large events for 25 years, when I first helped to produce Christmas pageants at my church, where my responsibilities ranged from staging (people and sets) to costuming productions that included as many as 200 people on a church stage. Many of the productions have been Biblical pieces; others have been set in a city park, a shopping mall, a radio studio in the 1940s, a turn of the century period piece, and formal concert settings.
For six years, I produced All University Sing at Baylor University, said to be the nation's largest student production - as many as 18 groups participated in the shows and 1000 students crossed the stage for every performance. At Baylor, I have also produced commencement ceremonies three times a year for more than seven years and I planned and wrote the 2006 inauguration ceremony for the new university president.
But weddings have always been a "first love." I started playing piano and organ for wedding ceremonies while in high school. My interests moved from playing for a ceremony to helping a bride make it through the day by being available to give advise, provide organizational structure for the ceremony and reception, and offer reassurance that the wedding plans are complete and the day will be wonderful.
With 15 years of wedding consulting experience and more than 200 weddings later, I still find it a thrill to work with a bride and help her walk down the aisle be the high point of her life and a start to a wonderful new life with the man of her dreams.
I have worked with brides 20 years of age and brides in their 50s and 70s. Wedding parties have been as small as 1 attendant each and 50 guests in a grandparent's backyard to 10 attendants in locations as varied as a county courthouse, the grounds of a restored home, and churches of all denominations and sizes.
The wedding business has taken me to Fort Worth, Dallas, Burleson, Hillsboro, Houston, Gatesville, Mart, Valley Mills and all around the greater Waco area.
